Rolling Waves on the Shore is an original colourful seascape oil painting featuring waves breaking along the coast beneath an expressive sky.
I wanted to capture the movement of the sea rather than paint a completely still coastal scene, using the shapes of the waves, changing light and open sky to give the painting a feeling of space and energy.
I particularly enjoyed working with the blues, greens and lighter highlights in the water to suggest the movement of the surf as it reaches the shore.
