Deer Family at Loch Ness is an original Scottish wildlife oil painting featuring a family of deer gathered beside the famous Highland loch.
I wanted the deer to remain the main focus while giving the painting a strong sense of the Scottish Highlands through the dark water, distant hills and stones along the shore.
I particularly enjoyed painting the contrast between the warm colours of the deer and the cooler greens and blues of the surrounding landscape. The quiet water and soft light give the scene a peaceful, slightly mysterious atmosphere that suits Loch Ness.
