Maria’s Melody is an original oil painting inspired by The Sound of Music, featuring Maria standing in an Alpine meadow surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
I wanted to capture the sense of freedom and happiness associated with the famous mountain scenes, with Maria standing with her arms outstretched beneath the open sky.
The strong greens of the meadow, distant mountains and bright atmosphere give the painting an uplifting feel, while Maria remains the clear focal point.
I’ve always enjoyed painting scenes inspired by classic films and stories, particularly when they combine landscape with a strong sense of nostalgia.
