Van Gogh’s Starry Studio is a large original oil painting imagining Vincent van Gogh working quietly in his studio beneath a swirling star-filled sky.
I imagined him sketching in the warm light of the room while a crescent moon, church steeple and swirling night sky appear through the window. A sunflower painting, brushes, palette and potted sunflower provide references to some of the subjects most closely associated with his work.
Rather than copy one particular Van Gogh painting, I wanted to create my own scene that brings together his studio, his famous night skies and his sunflowers.
