I wanted to capture one of those ordinary British winter moments that so many people remember. The corner shop glows warmly against the cold afternoon as a mother and two children make their way home through the snow, while a faithful black dog pauses beside a puddle that reflects the winter light. In the distance, an old red double-decker bus disappears into the snowy street, adding a familiar touch to the scene.
I like the contrast between the warmth spilling from the shop windows and the cold blue-grey tones of the snow and wind outside. Rather than focusing on a dramatic event, I wanted to paint a simple everyday moment that feels comforting, nostalgic and quietly familiar—something that reminds us of childhood winters and the small journeys that often become our happiest memories.
