Enlightened Elegance is an original oil painting of a ballerina seated quietly in a candlelit interior.

I wanted to capture a quieter side of ballet rather than a performance — a peaceful moment of reflection away from the stage.
I particularly enjoyed painting the contrast between the warm candlelight and the deeper shadows around the figure. The light helps draw attention to the ballerina while giving the scene an intimate, atmospheric quality.
Ballet is a subject I return to often because of the combination of strength, elegance and grace in the dancers.
