I was drawn to the delicate way her blue dress caught the light and wanted to capture not just the physical grace of her pose, but the quiet stillness of the room around her.
The reflections across the floor, soft blue walls, flower vase and framed artwork help create a calm, intimate atmosphere, while the dancer remains the clear focal point.
I particularly enjoy painting ballerinas because of the combination of strength, balance and elegance in their movement.
