Three of Us is an original Scottish winter landscape oil painting inspired by a scene I photographed close to my home.
An elderly couple walk their dog through the snowy landscape, creating a simple everyday moment against the quiet winter surroundings.
I have loved painting snow scenes since first watching The Joy of Painting when I was young. What appealed to me here was the contrast between the three small figures and the open winter landscape around them.
I wanted the painting to feel peaceful and familiar — the sort of ordinary winter walk that can become a memorable scene.
