Woman in the Rain is an original atmospheric city oil painting featuring a lone woman caught in heavy rain as car headlights glow through the darkness behind her.
I wanted to create a cinematic scene in which the weather and light were just as important as the figure herself.
I used cooler colours for the rain and surrounding city, contrasting them with the warmer lights and reflections to create movement and atmosphere.
Rainy scenes are a subject I return to often because wet streets, reflections and artificial light can completely transform an ordinary moment.
