Snowflake Waltz is an original romantic winter oil painting featuring a couple dancing together in a snowy landscape.
I wanted the scene to feel spontaneous, as though the couple have simply stopped in the snow and begun to dance. Their footprints and movement give a little life to the otherwise quiet winter landscape.
The surrounding snow creates a peaceful setting while the closeness of the figures brings warmth and romance to the scene.
I enjoy painting winter subjects because the simplicity of snow allows small figures and moments of colour or movement to stand out much more strongly.
